In Umbrella (magazine) 1959, edited by Terry Watson, Phillip Larkin contributed this essay explaining his poem I Remember, I Remember which had upset Coventrians with it's apparent dismissal ofthe city. Later,according to his biographer Andrew Motion, Larkin rejected the inclusion of this essay in his Required Writing book as being long and rambling and not keeping to the point of the essay.
